About Hattori Tenjingu Shrine

Hattori Tenjingu Shrine is known as the “Foot Shrine” after Sugawara Michizane, (a poet, scholar and politician) recovered from leg ailments and arrived safely at Dazaifu, Fukuoka in the year 901. 

Hattori Tenjingu wishes to support people’s hopes and the power to live by listening to the feelings of those who care about their feet and those who are worried about their legs.
